Learning Objectives:
This 90-minute hands-on course will give participants a unique opportunity to learn and practice with different devices for Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) & Minimally Invasive Bleb Surgery (MIBS). Participants will learn new techniques step-by-step, under the supervision of international experts who will offer one-on-one help and guidance throughout the session.

The aim of the course is for participants to gain confidence with devices such as iStent® Inject W, Hydrus® Microstent, XEN® gel stent and MINIject® in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Basic Vitrectomy Course

Saturday, 17 August from 08:30 – 10:00

Learning Objectives:

Participants will learn the basic vitrectomy skills including the vitrectomy and microscope settings, and the head up 3D viewing system. They will practice on the animal eye and the simulator to become proficient in the basic vitrectomy skills.

Advanced Vitreoretinal Surgical Skills Course

Saturday, 17 August from 10:30 – 12:00

Learning Objectives:

The aim of the Advanced Vitreoretinal Surgical Skill Course is to provide participants hand on training under the guidance of international experts to develop advanced surgical skill to manage the complicated vitreo-retinal conditions, and the intricacies of performing advance ILM peeling techniques: ILM flap, foveal sparing ILM peel.

Pre-requisites: This course is designed for participants who already have basic vitrectomy knowledge and would like to improve their skills.

Basic Phaco Skills

Learning objectives:

This course will introduce participants to the fundamentals of phacoemulsification cataract surgery. Following a short review of the principles of and steps in phacoemulsification, the majority of time will be spent in hands-on practice of the key elements of phacoemulsification. This course is best suited for early phaco surgeons or established SICS surgeons who are new to phaco.

Advanced Phaco Skills

Learning objectives:

This course is designed to help advance phacoemulsification skills and teach participants to practically manage more complex cataract surgery cases. Following a brief introduction, the majority of time will be spent in hands-on practice, with rotating stations on phaco chop skills, small pupil management, zonulopathy management and anterior vitrectomy. This course is best suited for intermediate cataract surgeons or residents/fellows who wish to become more comfortable with advanced phaco skills.

Master the Techniques of DMEK Tissue Preparation

The course will cover essential techniques for identifying ideal donor tissue and handling the Descemet membrane, ensuring high-quality grafts while minimizing resource expenditure. By the end of the session, attendees will be proficient in preparing DMEK tissue efficiently and economically.

DMEK Surgery Skills Course

Sunday, 18 August from 15:30 – 17:00

Participants will be able to practice the DMEK technique for implanting and positioning the donor cornea tissue using an artificial anterior chamber and pre-loaded corneal tissue. This course will enhance participants’ skills and confidence in performing DMEK surgeries in real clinical settings.
